Vilma Off To The Big Easy

vilma1.jpg

Long time Jet Jonathan Vilma is headed to the New Orleans Saints via trade.

The Jets unloaded their unhappy linebacker for a fourth round pick in the 2009 draft.  Tell me they weren’t dieing to get rid of him.

“The Jets were going one direction, and I was going a different direction,” Vilma said Friday. “I’m just glad I’m getting back into a 4-3 defense. This is better for both sides.”

Its no surprise that Vilma is excited to go.  The Jets didnt want him around either.  Great for both sides and hopefully the Jets can get some help in that fourth round of the 2009 draft.

Coughlin and Giants Inking $21million Extension

coughlin-gatorade.jpg

(AP)

The Super Bowl Champion New York Giants and Tom Coughlin appear to have reached a deal for an extension.  According to ESPN, Tom and the Giants have agreed to a $21 million extension through 2011!

I guess thats what happens when you start a season 0-2, go on a tear, make the playoffs, embarrass the Bucs, wreck the Cowboys, beat the Packers and upset the 18-0 New England Patriots* in the Super Bowl!  Good for him!

Going to be fun spending the next four years with ya Tom!

Theo Epstein Attacks Yankees

theo-epstein-cell.jpg

Red Sox Cheerleader, Theo Epstein, is looking to stir the pot and the season hasn’t even started yet.  He was quoted this morning on WEEI as calling Mike Mussina “A bad apple” for complaining about the Yankees 2004 trip to Japan.  Anyone who has flown to Japan knows, THAT TRIP IS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!  When I was over there it took me two weeks to get back to normal and even then it was horrible.

Oh yeah, he added that Kevin Brown was a “bad apple” too.  Gee, thanks Theo, what gave you that idea?  Your trashing a guy that was one of the Yankees biggest busts in the past ten years….how clever of you.

After the interview, Theo retired back to his office to play Dungeons and Dragons, followed by six straight hours of trading Magic cards.

More Bad News For Roger Dodger

clemens-hearings-2708.jpg

Per multiple news sources, Congress drafted a letter to investigate Roger Clemens on perjury charges.

Roger has been said by MLB players to have been bragging that Debbie Clemens and Jessica Canseco compared breasts at the infamous party.  Truth be told, nothing wrong with how any of those conversations went down, but unfortunately it is probably going to get Roger in some serious trouble.  Perjury by breasts.

The Most Famous View In Tampa

mooses-window.jpg

(Lohud Yankees Blog-Abraham)

This pick from Pete shows the world famous poster that Mussina put up between his locker and Phil Hughes’. It started out as just a poster, then a player hung some curtains, someone put on a shelf, etc. This running joke has gotten a nice bit of attention.

If Im Girardi, I would check behind there to make sure there isn’t a tunnel that Mike dug to hide when he is making the team run his 100 mile/day routine. Hey, it worked in The Shawshank Redemption.

Bellicheat* Taped The Giants In 2006

Not that it mattered this year, but the SUPER BOWL CHAMPS were taped in 2006 by the Patriots* during a preseason game.  The NY Post is reporting this new story.

Bloodhound, Arlan Specter said that the Patriots* have been illegally taping teams since he took the team over in 2000.

Running In Circles

jeter-spring-training.jpg

Pete Abraham quoted ARod today as saying, “It’s a track meet. But I really welcome that. I like that. I’m kind of psycho myself.”

Joe G. has been running everyone non-stop.  The players were all warned to come to camp in shape and most did.  The one who is said to be falling behind is Kei Igawa….big surprise.

PECOTA Predictions Are In

People can argue about PECOTA all they want, but the fact remains, that year in and year out this is the most accurate predictor of baseball.

They are picking the Yankees to win the AL with a 96-66 record and the Mets to win the NL East with a 96-66 record also. This some kind of paradox? We staring down another Subway Series? As much as the MLB would hate it because the rest of the country would rather watch Sunday Afternoon Bowling on ESPN than a Yankees vs Mets WS, I think it would be the cat’s ass.

Jason Kidd Flies The Coop

Kidd finally gets his wish…he’s no longer a NJ Net.

Kidd was sent to the Mavs in an eight player deal that, amongst others, brought Devin Harris, DaSagana Dios, Maurice Ager, Trenton Hassell and our old buddy Kieth Van Horn to the Nets.

Anyone who doesn’t think the Nets got the best of this trade is smoking the same crack pipe that Kidd has been hitting for the entire season….see his stats…
